Last night Conservative candidate Lyn Edwards took the second seat in West Rhyl, joining fellow town councillor Mike Espley who took the Foryd division of the ward in November of last year in a by-election. Both the Bodfor and Foryd wards are now held by the Conservatives in what was once a Labour heartland which is officially the most deprived ward in Wales. Lyn Edwards had 36% of the vote.
Commenting Matt Wright said, "Lyn works with the unemployed in the heart of Rhyl and will make an outstanding councillor being totally committed to Rhyl and the community there. The support we got everywhere we went was heartwarming and no part of this community was left out or left alone as we put across our message to every corner of the community. The people of West Rhyl are crying out for change and we will be working relentlessly for them to help them meet the enormous challenges they face"
